content was fine, quality of book was not.

I purchased this book because I love Robert Frost's poetry. I got the hardcover so it would be worth keeping on a bookshelf. The print was blurred in several places, there was no index by first lines, and the cover was disappointing. I expected for $30.00 a nice quality binding. Not worth the money, especially when comparing to a copy of Thoreau's "Faith in a Seed" which was $21.00 and very nice, on good quality paper, with a dustcover.

This is not your Junior High School poetry class.

Robert Frost's legacy is a vision of startling clarity and bottomless empathy. His poems are deceptively simple, and anyone who has not revisited them since Junior High School is in for a surprise of major proportions: What seemed so simple, "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening" perhaps, dazzles anew with complexity. Those quaint New England homilies are really metaphors for the most subtle observations. What seems to be a story about the life of nature is really a lesson about the nature of life.
Frost has been criticized for being too accessible, as if communicating in one's writing were a sin. But while he is accessible, he is never transparent. These poems are a well one can return to again and again for a fresh drink, a fresh perspective, a long, sweet sip.

While I keep the massive recent editions in my study, I keep my original one, the 23rd edition, on my bedside table, for it is easy to handle (especially when one is reading in bed), and was my most cherished gift as a boy. The book in it self is awesome with everithyng any scientist or engenier would ever need, in perfect shape just like new!

New size is great.

The biggest thing about the new edition is it's bigger size.

It's probably my old eyes, but the small type on the small pages was getting awfully hard to read. It was becomming a chore to take the book, find the page you want and then squint, hold the page just so under the light so you can get the data you wanted. Maybe it's just the size, maybe it's the new typeface they talk about, I'm not sure. But, the general appearance of the new book is worth getting the new edition.

To be sure, there are a lot of new tables. I suspect that the data in the old tables has been checked, re-checked and corrected to another few decimal places, but as of yet anyway, I haven't needed any of the new tables. Being able to get the data you need more quickly is worth the cost of buying the new edition.

This is still the old standby. There's probably a copy in every lab around the world. And if there isn't, it's because someone from another lab came and borrowed it.

The Good Stuff

The CRC Chemistry Handbook has been near my desk for 25 years and probably gets used twice a week. My only regret is that it does not have more detailed information about the isotopes, the real building blocks of the universe. When we refer to an element, we are referring to an average of the isotopes, similar to each other only in their number of protons.

Still, the lessons in the book are endless and wonderful regarding our fascinating world.

Fabulous Full Color Cookbook - Not Just for Holidays !

I have had this cookbook for nearly a decade, and have used it extensively. Williams Sonoma cookbooks are always well designed with well-tested menus. The book includes recipes for starters, soups and salads, main dishes, breads & stuffings, vegetables, desserts, cakes, and gifts from the kitchen. It also includes a very useful glossary and section on basic recipes and techniques. The sample Holiday Menus will help you plan for your festive occasion.

The large format hardback book has sturdy glossy paper and the 2-page spreads lie flat, many with the photograph on one side and ingredients/instructions on the other side. There is plenty of white space on the page to allow you to make notes of any adjustments to the recipes. The photographs are luscious and also a great aid in selecting the items for your feast, as the color and appearance of a dish are very important to the overall appeal of the meal. Whether you are an accomplished cook, or a neophyte at meal planning and cooking, you will find the recipes easy to follow and replicate.

Though some of the traditional recipes are those you would typically only use during holiday celebrations (such as cornbread stuffing and roasted turkey), you will want to use many of these recipes year round. My cookbook is stuffed with bookmarks and notes and copies of menus from previous dinners that I have hosted. There are many family favorites among the recipes, but still many recipes that I'm going to try some day. It is a pleasure to browse this cookbook and plan future meals. Don't buy the kindle...

Everyone that has reviewed this book so far has bought the hardcover, so I would recommend that. The kindle version is not easy to use. There isn't any pictures or table of contents that's helpful for finding recipes. Also, when you bookmark a page it doesn't tell you what recipe you've bookmarked. A lot of the recipes only have partial nutrition information as well, which is not helpful for weight watchers dieters. With that being said, the recipes are great! I would recommend you buy the hardcover...just don't buy the kindle version.

I buy the collection every year

I like to have all the CL recipes in one bound book, rather than torn out pages from magazines. And for the money, this is one of the best cookbooks you can buy. Rarely a recipe that is less than great. Everything I've made so far out of this one has been a keeper.

Not bad, one big problem

So the recipes in the book are great.

My problem is that they aren't laid out in a way that makes any sense to me. They are separated by month, not by type of food or meal. The lack of pictures doesn't bother me, as much as I can't easily skip to a section because I know exactly where the "soups, stews, chilis" are located.

Now, Let try to Think further in the Top problem of Oncology...
I think further serious scientific Thinking and efforts must be allocated
to the THEORY! OF ONCOLOGY (Remember the Theory provides the compass for
the correct direction(s) of applied research, and I think it is mainly
because of lack of a good Theory of oncology that the problems of
oncology have not solved Efficiently)
This author since 1983 has thought of "An UNIFIED Theory of Oncology"
based mainly in molecular informatics(perhaps the first article also in
molecular informatics),etc, and he presented a summary of his theory under
the title "A note of the essay on cell abnormal multiplication rate" in
the 7th European Interuniversity Symposium, help 17-20 July 1997 in
Thessaloniki,Greece. This author perhaps may be considered that he
discovered the field of "MOLECULAR INFORMATICS" with his scientific
article on an UNIFIED Theory of Oncology , since 1983, but since then Huge
problems was created against this reviewer making very difficult to
promote his fundamentally original scientific ideas and thinking... Let
define in my understanding the field of "Molecular Informatics" as
"Molecular Informatics" we may understand information network(s) which is
created by molecule(s) carrying information. This is my original
definition of the field of "Molecular Informatics".

A misleading title - rodent, not human data presented

Most of the papers present data on carcinogens developed to rodent studies, which are not reliable as they may or may not pertain to humans. Some contemporay issues, which were around at the time this compilation was put together, are not addressed, such as the carcinogenicity of styrene and bis-phenol-A in humans. For such a relatively recent publication, it is obsolete in terms of current concerns over carcinogenesis.

Perfect for All-Clad Deluxe Slow Cooker

This book has excellent recipes and is particularly good if you own the All-Clad Deluxe Slow Cooker. (The liner is a piece of heavy-duty nonstick cookware. You brown the meat and onions in the liner on top of the stove, add the liquid and spices, transfer the liner to the slow cooker and walk away.) Most of the recipes require this type of preparation. The book is organized by prep time and times are given for cooking on high and low. I prep 2 or 3 meals on the weekend and then just throw them into the slow cooker before work during the week. So even if you don't own the All-Clad you could prepare the recipes this way. If you appreciate good flavor, fresh ingredients and don't mind investing in some prep time, this book is for you. Be sure to try the Spring Veal Stew with asparagus, peas, mushrooms and creme fraiche - outstanding.

I'm in Slow Cooker Heaven

I just bought a really nice Allclad slow cooker and needed a book of slow cooker recipes. After reviewing some on Amazon (thank you for being able to do that!), I decided on this one for all of the delicious looking recipes and photos! So far have made the split pea soup, and it is delicious. I wanted to be able to make some soups to freeze in individual portions, and use later, and I think this will work well. If I am in the market for another cook book, I definitely would buy another Williams-Sonoma, as they have different kinds!

a big disappointment

I was really looking forward to getting this cookbook. I had just gotten the weeknight chicken magazine and loved it. I like pictures with my recipes since they add a lot of details to the recipes. This book had very few pictures in the front and middle section of the book. The recipes themselves were printed on poor quality paper that will not stand up to much use. Save your money and use the so so web site instead.
