A little consistency and realism in serving sizes, please!

COOKING LIGHT PASTA TONIGHT! is full of delicious recipes, many with beautiful appetite-stimulating pictures. Because the "Search inside this book" function is unavailable at the time of this review, I'll list some of the chapters:
The Classics
Soups & Salads
Meat Lovers
Vegetarian Dishes
International Noodles
A sample of some of my favorite recipes includes Pasta Primavera; Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup; Asian Chicken, Noodle, and Snap Pea Salad; Mac and Cheese with Roasted Tomatoes; and Curried Noodles with Tofu.
Ultimately, however, I am disappointed in this cookbook because COOKING LIGHT has used some sleight-of-hand with the serving sizes in an attempt to hide the fact that some of the recipes are actually not-so-light. For example, the Pasta Primavera recipe produces four two-cup servings for 338 calories each while the Spaghetti Carbonara recipe yields only four one-cup servings so the calorie count can come in at 352. Another example: The Mac and Cheese with Roasted Tomatoes recipe yields 10 one-cup servings out of a 13 x 9-inch baking dish for 411 calories. On either side of the Mac Cheese recipe, there are two recipes (Special Occasion Lasagna and Make-Ahead Cheese-and-Hamburger Casserole) that are also cooked in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish, however; they both yield eight larger servings because their calorie counts are already lower (284 and 412, respectively).
Look, I understand the concept of eating denser foods in lesser amounts. I might eat two cups of salad but am not likely to eat the same amount of pâté. But we're talking about the same types of foods here. It just feels like THEY feel they've got something to hide. And they don't. This may be a cookbook devoted to "light" recipes, but feel free to explain that one cup of half-and-half makes the recipe lighter than the original recipe with one cup of cream, even if it's not exactly a low-calorie dish. I don't need to be protected from that fact that the half-and-half based sauce is not as light as the broth-based one.
In contrast, the excellent, recently-published Food Network Magazine Great Easy Meals: 250 Fun & Fast Recipes treats its readers like adults. Every recipe is consistently four servings, and they list calories for all. So I understand that the four-serving Chicken and Black Bean Tostadas, at 355 calories, is "lighter" than the BLT Pasta Salad at 960 calories per serving (!), and I can make my decision based on my own priorities for each meal. No, it's not marketed as a "light" cookbook even though most of the recipes would work in a diet devoted to moderation and healthy, minimally-processed foods. Maybe that's why they don't feel the need to obscure the nutritional details by making servings of similar recipes different sizes.
This cookbook is filled with good food and helpful ideas for "lightening-up" some not-so-light original recipes. But I wish COOKING LIGHT was more interested in being honestly informative instead of doctoring serving sizes to make the recipes fit their pre-determined definitions of "light." (And maybe in the next edition, the photos of the one-cup-per-serving recipes, like Fettuccine Alfredo with Bacon, can actually show a one-cup serving instead of the three-plus-cup serving in the pictured one-serving pasta bowl.)
