Projects, pretty pictures, and design inspiration!

I received this book for Christmas, and have enjoyed it very much. As a TOH magazine subscriber, this is a nice supplement to my magazine collection. It is full of great pictures, advice, and ideas for adding attractive and functional storage to one's home. I like how the book is broken up into ideas and plans for each room/ area in the home. And, contrary to what the previous reviewer posted, there are more than three detailed building projects included in the book. These include a mud room bench, an entry bench, a medicine cabinet, a window seat and a buffet made of stock cabinets, a built-in message center/organizer, and a wall-hung TV cabinet. There are also briefer overviews of other building projects. Yes, many of these plans and pictures can be found on This Old House's website or in issues of the magazine. However, it is nice to have everything in one handy reference book. I would hardly call this book a waste of anything. Thank you, This Old House, for another wonderful publication.

Just pictures I had already seen at their website for free!

Bought the book hoping it had building instructions. By the time it came in my husband had bought the same one at Home Depot. It is full of good quality pictures that I had already seen for free at their website. They are only like 3 detailed instructions in the whole book on building, one on how to install a Medicine Cabinet, with a tip here and there. No instructions on how to build a bookshelf, a desk or kitchen cabinets. I found this book totally useless.

More like a magazine than a book

This book reads like a magazine, tons of beautiful pictures. Only a hand full of detail projects. Not a happy constumer. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a project book or beginner
