Handy little book

I picked this book up on a whim. Southern Living is a trusted brand. I don't subscribe to the magazine, but my mother has been a subscriber for decades, so many of our "family recipes" originated with Southern Living.
I enjoyed getting inspiration from these recipes. I flipped through the book and mentally planned what I wanted to do for my holiday meal. I found the recipes to be very approachable. I am moderately skilled in the kitchen, but sometimes shy away from recipes that seem "too complicated," especially during the holidays when I have a bunch of things to do at once. I thought these recipes struck a nice balance of being interesting but not overly involved. I also liked the suggestions on what could be made ahead and what order in which to prepare dishes. I am in my 30s and only have a handful of holiday meals under my belt, so that was really helpful.
We made the slow cooker candies and they were awesome. Best, easiest idea ever. I am going to put this book on my shelf so I can refer to it easily next Christmas. It will never be my one and only holiday cookbook, but it's nice to have a varied collection of recipes in one volume that I can grab and browse easily rather than having to get a bunch of cookbooks down off the shelf.

Awesome Cookbook! One of my new favorites

I've been cooking for my family for 28 years and I LOVE this cookbook. Sometimes I need inspiration and this is the book for me. South Living provides great ideas for whole meal planning and menus for the holidays or whenever you entertain a group of loved ones. It is now April and I'm still pulling this book off the shelf for great recipes. Thank you, Southern Living.
